1. Policy Statement

MAGSONS FOUNDATION is committed to ensuring the safety and welfare of all individuals who engage with our charity, especially children and vulnerable adults. We take our safeguarding responsibilities seriously and expect all staff, volunteers, and partners to share this commitment.

2. Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to protect people, particularly children, young people, and vulnerable adults, from harm that may be caused through their contact with MAGSONS FOUNDATION, its programs, or its representatives.

3. Scope

This policy applies to all staff, volunteers, contractors, trustees, and anyone acting on behalf of MAGSONS FOUNDATION, whether in the UK or abroad.

4. Legal Framework

This policy has been developed in accordance with:

  • Children Act 1989 and 2004 (UK)
  • Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006
  • Working Together to Safeguard Children (HM Government)
  • Charity Commission guidance on safeguarding
  • Relevant international safeguarding legislation and standards

5. Definitions

  • Child: Anyone under the age of 18
  • Vulnerable adult: A person aged 18 or over who may be unable to protect themselves from harm or exploitation
  • Abuse: Includes physical, emotional, sexual, financial, or neglect

6. Responsibilities

All representatives of MAGSONS FOUNDATION must:

  • Take safeguarding concerns seriously
  • Report any concerns immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
  • Act in accordance with this policy and related procedures
  • Participate in safeguarding training as required

8. Reporting Concerns

We follow robust recruitment procedures for staff and volunteers, including references and DBS checks where roles involve contact with children or vulnerable adults.

10. Training and Awareness

We provide safeguarding training and awareness to staff and volunteers based on the level of engagement with at-risk individuals.

11. Confidentiality and Record Keeping

Safeguarding concerns will be recorded and stored securely. Information will be shared only with appropriate personnel or agencies on a need-to-know basis and in compliance with data protection law.

12. Review

This policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if required by changes in legislation or organisational activity.
