1. Policy Statement

MAGSONS FOUNDATION is committed to the highest standards of ethical conduct, accountability, and transparency. We encourage a culture where staff, volunteers, trustees, and others feel confident and safe to report concerns about wrongdoing or risks to the organisation or public interest.

2. Purpose

This policy enables individuals to raise concerns about suspected malpractice at an early stage and in the right way. It applies even if the concern is only a suspicion, and regardless of the role or seniority of the person reporting it.

3. Scope

This policy applies to staff, volunteers, contractors, trustees, and anyone connected to MAGSONS FOUNDATION who becomes aware of serious wrongdoing. It covers, but is not limited to:

  • Criminal offences or suspected fraud
  • Safeguarding concerns involving children or vulnerable adults
  • Corruption, bribery, or misuse of funds
  • Serious breaches of policy or ethics
  • Danger to health, safety, or the environment
  • Covering up wrongdoing

4. Principles

  • Concerns will be taken seriously and investigated promptly
  • Confidentiality will be respected where possible
  • Whistleblowers will be protected from retaliation or disadvantage
  • This policy complements (not replaces) existing reporting channels

5. How to Raise a Concern

You can report your concern by emailing our designated officer at [email protected] or writing to us at:

MAGSONS FOUNDATION
Unit 19, Wainwright Street
Aston, Birmingham, B6 5TJ

If you prefer, you may also raise the issue anonymously, although this may limit our ability to investigate fully.

6. Investigation and Outcome

Once a concern is raised, it will be assessed and investigated by an appropriate and impartial person. Where necessary, legal or external advice will be sought. A summary of the outcome will be provided to the whistleblower where appropriate and lawful.

7. Protection and Support

No whistleblower will suffer any detriment, harassment, or retaliation for raising a concern in good faith. Any attempt to victimise someone for whistleblowing will be treated as a disciplinary matter.

8. False or Malicious Allegations

Concerns raised in good faith are always protected. However, if someone knowingly makes false or malicious accusations, this may lead to disciplinary action.

9. External Disclosures

If you feel unable to raise your concern internally, you may contact the Charity Commission or another prescribed regulator. These disclosures are also protected by law under certain circumstances.

10. Monitoring and Review

This policy is reviewed annually by the Board of Trustees to ensure effectiveness and compliance with legal standards, including the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998.
